  4.   DVDx allows you to convert DVD to VCD2.0/SVCD1.0/AVI in one step (Including 
  5.   multiplexing, splitting). It produces good quality movies in AVI/MPEG1/2 format

  217.   - You need Microsoft VC++ 6.0 + SP5 + Processor Pack + DirectX 8.1 SDK
  218.   - Intel C++ Compiler 5.0 or higher to build the release version
  219.   - Main project is called mpeg_encode (not DVDx)

  221. About Adobe Premiere Plugins:

  224.   -To install an encoder for Premiere , Run the plugin setup and Select
  225.    the directory where DVDx files have been copied.
  226.    If you update a plugin, to avoid a conflict, you should remove 
  227.    the old windows registry database entry where plugin setting are storred :
  228.      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DVDx\Output_Setting\PlugSetting\a_plugin.prm
  229.      where a_plugin.prm is the old plugin name.

  231.   -Multi PASS with an external encoder:
  232.    The multi pass allows the video stream to be read 2 times. This features
  233.    has been tested with TMPGEnc (client of AVISynth) when making 2Pass VBR.
  234.    When this flag is checked: 
  235.     For the first pass the decoder is initialised in VIDEO_PASS. For all other
  236.     following pass the decoder is reinited in DUAL_PASS (Audio + Video)

  241.   DVDx has been tested with the Video Server v0.90/91/92/93
  242.   plugin and TMPGEnc as client. It's an easy way to use an
  243.   external encoder with DVDx. An very small.AVI  file which can be 
  244.   opened by a standalone encoder is created.

  246.   To use this frame server you have 2 step:
  247.   1) Install the Video Video Server package
  248.   2) Install the video server plugin/codecs which allows DVDx
  249.      to deal with the Frame Server.  Get the cm-videoserver.prm
  250.     (from PremiereVideoServerPluginv093.zip) file and copy it in 
  251.     the DVDx directory.

  267.   -LSX, Panasonic MPEG and CinemaCraft Encoder plugin for Premiere work with
  268.    DVDx but only in RGB32 format.
  269.  
  270.   -Some newer versions of premiere plugins may not work.
  271.  
  272.   -You can read file bigger than 2Gb (on DVD or HDD) only if you have the WNASPI
  273.    driver installed.
  274.  
  275.   -You get bad looking subtitle when you open VOB files. This is due to missing
  276.    color subtitle palette (stored in IFO file).
  277.  
  278.   -You get the error "The ordinal 11 could not be located in the dynamix link library 
  279.    DSOUND.dll" when DirectX 8.1 is not installed
  280.  
  281.   -You get the error "WNASPI Driver initialisation failed" or "WNASPI32.DLL not found"
  282.    when ASPI is not installed or when you have a too old ASPI driver.
  283.  
  284.   -you may get "Too much samples" error when encoding NTSC DVD, I never experienced
  285.    personaly this problem. So i add a flag to force 24Hz. Hope it helps.

  287.   -Authentification may not work (auth.dll) (you may need a DVD player to unlock the drive).

  289.   -You may get an audio/video synch problem if you rip the totality of the dvd.
  290.    It's due to audio blank located at beggining of movie (often during
  291.    of beetween advertisement). You may also get "Samples not found or audio decoding 
  292.    error". So start rip from the beginning of the movie or check Audio/Video synch to
  293.    avoid this.

  295.   -You may get tick (rarely) in the sound if you use the Audio/Video synchronistaion
  296.  
  297.   -SVCD may go out of sync when burned with Nero, use Vcdeasy in that case.

  303.   Unfortunaly I didn't test DVDx on lots of NTSC DVD. So if you
  304.   get troubles with some of them don't hesitate to email me.
  305.   This project has been inspired from lots of  sources found on 
  306.   the web: DVD2AVI , vStrip , vobdec , AVI2MPG , bbMPEG, Mpeg 
  307.   sources, ... I did a big big job for merging all these softwares
  308.   and get a real 'all in one' DVD2VCD/SVCD converter.
